It is with great excitement and enthusiasm we welcome you back for the 2022-2023 school year. I hope you are all having a wonderful summer. Our campus has been very active over the last few months. The construction of the new building is moving right along; multiple floors are taking shape, the auditorium is a prominent fixture, the football field and track location is discernible, and most importantly for this year, the new parking lot is nearing completion. Throughout the summer, students have been participating in various camps and activities at FHN and other locations around the district. Teachers have been attending training, getting their rooms together, and planning for the new school year. We are almost ready to bring back our staff and students.
I am honored and excited to serve as the next Principal at Francis Howell North. FHN has such a great legacy within the community; high academic achievement, strong activities and programs, and a learning environment that welcomes all students. We are grateful you allow us to work with your children every day. We will achieve success when we work together to support our students in and outside of school. I look forward to meeting our FHN families and students at many of our back to school events in the next month.
I take pride in becoming a Knight and am honored to have the opportunity to work side by side with everyone in our community. The last few years have been difficult, but the grace and patience provided within our community has made them possible. Moving past those tough times, we are looking forward to a great 2022-2023 school year at Francis Howell North.
As a District focused on continuous improvement, each of our 23 schools develops a site-based school improvement plan every year. The plan outlines the goals and actions the building plans to take throughout the year to improve various areas of performance.
A pyramid of intervention is a tiered approach to prevention and intervention strategies to support students both academically and behaviorally. The pyramid uses a variety of strategies and techniques to help all students stay on the right track. The foundation of the pyramid offers Tier 1 supports for all students. Tier 2 interventions provide additional support for smaller groups of students who need more targeted help. Tier 3 provides the most intensive supports for individual students when Tier 1 and 2 interventions have been unsuccessful. Our schools review and update their pyramid on a regular basis to ensure new strategies are incorporated and all are aligned with best practice.
