FHSD students participate in District level SkillsUSA competition

Twenty-five
FHSD students from the Lewis & Clark Career Center have earned the right to compete at the SkillsUSA Missouri State Leadership and Skills Conference in April. Competing recently at the District level, students from FHHS, FHC, and FHN earned a total of nine gold medals. The students were competing in a variety of technical, hands-on, written, and oral categories that relate directly to their program of study at Lewis & Clark.

“We are proud of our St. Charles County students as they once again turned in a great performance at the district level SkillsUSA competitions, particularly against schools twice the size of ours in St. Louis County,” said Dr. Andrew Stewart, Director of the Lewis & Clark Career Center. “We are proud of the work ethic and perseverance the students showed. We see this every day and these results reflect that.”

SkillsUSASkillsUSA brings students, teachers, and industry workers together to develop a skilled workforce for the future. They provide educational programs, events, and competitions across the United States.

Students who place first or second are automatically eligible to compete at the state competitions. In some competitions, third place also qualifies for state. Some state competitors qualified to compete based on their performance on a nationally-normed assessment in their area along with a strong recommendation from their Lewis & Clark instructor. These “straight to state” competitors and all students who medaled in the district competition and those competing at the state competition are denoted in the table below:
